One-Third of Kerala College Students at Risk for Eating Disorders
12 Mar 2025 • A study conducted among students in Kerala reveals a concerning prevalence of Eating disorders (EDs) risk, with nearly one-third (29.4%) of participants showing vulnerability.
Underweight students (Annual Percentage Rate [APR] = 1.60), overweight/obese (APR = 2.42), or struggled with social media disorder (APR = 1.69) faced increased odds of ED risk.
The findings underscore the urgent need for targeted interventions, especially for students in higher social classes and those dealing with body image issues or social media addiction.
