Retinal Clarity: IRF Optical Density Ratio Predicts Visual Outcomes in nAMD
16 Apr 2025 • A new study sheds light on the prognostic potential of optical coherence tomography (OCT) biomarkers in neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD).
Researchers found that higher optical density ratio (ODR) values of intraretinal fluid (IRF) were significantly associated with better preservation of best corrected visual acuity (deltaBCVA) over a 36-month period.
Both strict and flexible ODR measures of IRF showed a negative correlation with BCVA decline. Subretinal fluid (SRF) and pigment epithelial detachment (PED) ODR values bore no significant impact.
