21 Jan 2023 • Officials revealed on Wednesday that the only HIV vaccine whose testing trials are almost complete is ineffective at preventing HIV. The vaccine has been under research since 2019, and 3,900 study participants had received it by October 2022. However, data shows that it offers no more protection against HIV than a placebo. According to experts, there won't be any potential vaccine for 3 to 5 years as a result of the failure. The former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Anthony Fauci, MD, expressed his disappointment while pointing out that there are other promising areas of HIV treatment research and I don't think individuals should give up on the HIV vaccine area.
