Obesity-Related Multimorbidity: Class III Obesity Strongly Linked to Major Health Conditions
26 Mar 2025 • Researchers found strong, graded associations between obesity and 16 major health conditions, including cardiovascular, metabolic, and respiratory diseases.
Class III obesity showed the highest risks, with obstructive sleep apnea (HR: 10.94), type 2 diabetes (HR: 7.74), and metabolic dysfunction–associated steatotic liver disease (HR: 6.72) being the most strongly linked.
Conditions like asthma, osteoarthritis, and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease showed notable associations (HRs: 2.14, 2.06, and 1.96, respectively).
