PAP Therapy Cuts Mortality Risk in Obstructive Sleep Apnea Patients
19 Mar 2025 • A meta-analysis of over 1.17 million patients found that Positive Airway Pressure (PAP) therapy significantly reduces all-cause and cardiovascular mortality in individuals with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).
The study, including 30 studies (10 RCTs, 20 non-randomized), showed a 37% lower risk of all-cause mortality (HR 0.63) and a 55% lower risk of cardiovascular mortality (HR 0.45) with PAP use.
Benefits were more pronounced with greater adherence, highlighting the life-saving potential of PAP therapy and the importance of patient education and adherence.
