SNHL refers to any cause of hearing loss due to a pathology of the cochlea, auditory nerve, or central nervous system. Acute sensorineural hearing loss, defined as a hearing loss greater than 30 dB in at least three consecutive audiometric frequencies over 72 hours, is usually classified as an otolaryngologic emergency condition, which requires prompt management. Patients with tonsillitis often present with a sore throat, a common symptom with a myriad of possible diagnoses. The differential diagnosis for tonsillitis is broad and includes pharyngitis, retropharyngeal abscess, epiglottitis, and Ludwig angina. Symptoms of acute tonsillitis include fever, tonsillar exudates, sore throat, and tender anterior cervical chain lymphadenopathy. Patients may also note odynophagia and dysphagia secondary to tonsillar swelling. For the majority of patients, tonsilitis is a self-limiting disease. Given the frequency of viral etiologies, the mainstay of treatment of acute tonsillitis is supportive care, including analgesia and hydration. Approach to Tonsilitis

The symptoms of sinusitis overlap with other common conditions, including allergic rhinitis, viral upper respiratory tract infection, deviated nasal septum, and migraine headache. For this reason a clinical diagnosis of sinusitis is often inaccurate. Patients are usually diagnosed with sinusitis based on the characteristic symptoms of facial fullness/pressure, purulent rhinorrhea, headache and nasal obstruction.The primary diagnostic aids for sinusitis are radiologic imaging and nasal endoscopy that confirm paranasal sinus inflammation. A noncontrasted CT of the sinuses is considered the gold standard imaging test for the diagnosis of chronic sinusitis. Nasal/sinus bacterial cultures should be reserved for patients who have not responded to the initial choice of antibiotic therapy, those with extrasinus spread of infection and those with chronic rhinosinusitis.
