One important form of treatment for people with severe to profound sensorineural hearing loss and are refractory to conventional hearing augmentation is cochlear implantation. Imaging is crucial in the evaluation of CI candidates because it can reveal temporal bone abnormalities that might be discovered following surgery and change the surgical strategy in addition to identifying congenital and acquired inner ear abnormalities or cochlear nerve anomalies.
