• Researchers found nitrofurantoin particularly effective in reducing symptomatic UTI episodes compared to other options including trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole.
• Cranberry emerged as a promising non-antibiotic option
• However, no prophylaxis method, including cranberry or nitrofurantoin, showed evidence of reducing kidney scarring.
