Children with Early-Onset Atopic Dermatitis Face Sharp Rise in Uveitis Risk
4 Apr 2025 • New research reveals that children with early-onset atopic dermatitis (AD) are nearly twice as likely to develop pediatric uveitis compared to those without AD (HR: 1.92).
The risk remained elevated even in children without autoimmune conditions (HR: 1.52) or those not on dupilumab (HR: 1.77). Severe AD further tripled the likelihood of uveitis (HR: 3.64).
These findings underscore the need for regular ophthalmologic monitoring in children with AD to enable early detection and timely intervention.
