Remnant Cholesterol Emerges as Key Predictor of Thrombosis in Antiphospholipid Syndrome
24 Apr 2025 • Elevated remnant cholesterol (RC) levels may significantly amplify the threat of recurrent thrombotic events, even in patients with normal lipid profiles.
Among antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) patients, those with RC levels >0.60 mmol/L faced markedly heightened risks: a 5-fold increase for all thrombotic events (HR 5.05), including venous (HR 6.34), arterial (HR 3.79), and microvascular complications (HR 4.36).
These findings position RC not only as a potent prognostic marker but also as a promising target for personalized risk stratification and intervention in APS management.
