Study Finds Nearly 1 in 5 Teens with PCOS Face Hypertensive Blood Pressure
15 Oct 2024 • In recent research, nearly 1 in 5 girls with PCOS exhibited hypertensive blood pressure (≥130/80 mmHg).
Analyzing data from over 224,000 girls aged 13-17 in Northern California, researchers found that 18.2% of those with PCOS exhibited hypertensive blood pressure (≥130/80 mmHg), compared to only 7.1% without the condition.
PCOS was linked to a 25% increased likelihood of hypertensive BP, emphasizing the need for heightened blood pressure monitoring in this high-risk group, particularly as 15.8% of the cohort were classified as obese.
