Balanced Diets Slash Diabetes Risk More Than Plant-Based Diets
30 Dec 2024 • New research shows that balanced diets are linked to a lower risk of type 2 diabetes compared to plant-based diets.
In a study comparing dietary patterns in the Environment-Inflammation-Metabolic-Diseases Study (EIMDS) and UK Biobank, those adhering to a balanced diet - defined as consuming five categories and at least 12 types of food daily - showed a 35% lower diabetes risk in EIMDS and a 14% lower risk in UK Biobank.
These findings suggest that a balanced diet, with its diverse food intake, offers more advantages in diabetes prevention than plant-based diets.
