Blood Markers Offer TB Detection Clues in HIV-Positive Children
18 Apr 2025 • A study from Gujarat has spotlighted simple blood-based indicators—monocyte-to-lymphocyte ratio (MLR), neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), and anemia status—as strong predictors of tuberculosis (TB) in children living with HIV (CLHIV).
Among CLHIV aged 0–14 years, those with TB had significantly higher MLR and NLR levels, and more severe anemia.
Logistic regression models revealed that elevated MLR and NLR were associated with 15.6-fold and 17.3-fold increased odds of TB, respectively.
