Lung Ultrasound: A Game Changer in RA-ILD Screening
27 Feb 2025 • A recent study evaluated the effectiveness of lung ultrasound in screening for interstitial lung disease (RA-ILD) in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients.
Key Findings: 11.8% had clinical ILD and 5% had subclinical changes on high-resolution CT. The area under the receiver operating characteristic (AUROC) for lung ultrasound B-lines was over 0.9 for detecting both subclinical and clinical ILD.
These findings highlight lung ultrasound as a promising early detection tool for RA-ILD, offering superior sensitivity compared to traditional screening methods.
