Bidirectional Association Between Atopic Dermatitis and ADHD
1 Apr 2025 • A significant bidirectional association was observed between atopic dermatitis (AD) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
Key Findings:
-
Individuals with AD had a 34% higher likelihood of developing ADHD (OR = 1.34), while those with ADHD faced a 45% increased risk of AD (OR = 1.45).
-
The link was particularly pronounced in patients with severe AD (OR = 2.62), multiple allergic conditions (OR = 2.89), and sleep disturbances (OR = 2.43).
These findings highlight the need for early interventions and multidisciplinary management to mitigate the interplay between these conditions and improve patient outcomes.
