New UBM Structural Markers Enhance Prediction of Malignant Glaucoma in PACG
23 Apr 2025 • The newly introduced four novel structural parameters—Zmin (shortest zonule length), sCLD (simulated cilio-lenticular distance), Sc-vz (area between ciliary body and vitreous zonule), and Hc-vz (its height)—showed markedly superior predictive power.
A combined model of these four markers achieved 88.9% sensitivity and 76.5% specificity in forecasting malignant glaucoma (MG) risk.
These findings suggest that early ultrasonic biomicroscopy (UBM)-based structural assessment could be a game-changer in preventing this severe postoperative complication in primary angle-closure glaucoma (PACG) patients.
