UPCR Proves a Powerful Tool in Detecting Proteinuria in Preeclampsia
28 Apr 2025 • A new prospective study from Indian tertiary centers confirms that the urine protein-to-creatinine ratio (UPCR) is a fast, accurate tool for assessing proteinuria in preeclampsia.
UPCR showed a strong correlation with 24-hour urine protein, with a cut-off of 1.29 predicting significant proteinuria (≥300 mg/dl) with 100% sensitivity and 58.2% specificity.
Adverse outcomes were more common with UPCR >0.3, especially in severe preeclampsia. UPCR could streamline diagnosis and monitoring in high-risk pregnancies.
