Antipsychotic Use Linked to Higher Urinary Incontinence Rates in Young Women
13 Mar 2025 • Comparing women on antipsychotics to a matched control group, researchers found markedly higher rates of urge incontinence (24% vs. 6%), stress incontinence (double the control group), mixed incontinence (13% vs. 2%), nocturia (15% vs. 3%), and nocturnal enuresis (12% vs. 2%).
Notably, Clozapine was implicated in nearly half of nocturnal enuresis cases.
The findings underscore the need for proactive screening, patient education, and tailored management strategies to improve both mental and physical well-being in this vulnerable population.
