Modified Triple Test Offers 100% Sensitivity for Early Breast Cancer Diagnosis
1 Apr 2025 • The modified triple test (MTT), which substitutes ultrasound for mammography, has proven to be a highly effective diagnostic tool for evaluating breast lumps, according to a recent Indian study.
By replacing mammography with ultrasound, MTT achieved 100% sensitivity and 98.65% specificity, significantly outperforming clinical examination, ultrasound, and fine-needle aspiration cytology individually.
MTT's robust performance, with a 96.30% positive predictive value, provides a reliable diagnostic tool, especially for younger women with dense breast tissue. This approach minimizes unnecessary biopsies and offers a cost-effective, non-invasive solution for early breast cancer detection.
