Early Eczema Signals Higher Risk of Multiple Food Allergies
8 Dec 2025 • Early-onset eczema showed a strong link to broader atopic disease in a large pediatric cohort. Among 1,309 children with food allergies, 77% had atopic dermatitis, and over 80% developed it within the first year.
Early eczema correlated with higher odds of multiple food allergies, asthma, and allergic rhinitis. Late-onset cases were less likely to have multiple food allergies, such as milk and egg, but had greater odds of asthma and allergic rhinitis.
The results position early eczema as a critical clinical signal requiring vigilant monitoring and preventive strategies in high-risk infants.
