New Evidence: RA Patients See Little Cardiovascular Benefit from Healthy Diets
7 Aug 2024 • Research tracking nearly 110,000 postmenopausal women over 12.7 years reveals that while a healthy diet significantly lowers cardiovascular disease (CVD) and mortality rates in those without rheumatoid arthritis (RA), it offers minimal additional benefits for those already suffering from RA.
- Women with a healthy diet showed reduced risks of cardiovascular disease (CVD) and mortality compared to those with an unhealthy diet.
- However, in women with RA, the benefits of a healthy diet on cardiovascular and mortality outcomes were negligible.
RA overpowers the benefits that may be attained through a healthy diet, resulting in the fact that diet quality does not significantly change cardiovascular and mortality outcome incidence in those who already have RA.
