NMC Asks All Medical Colleges to Establish Tobacco Cessation Centers
15 Jul 2024 • The National Medical Commission (NMC) has mandated the establishment of tobacco cessation centers in all medical colleges across India. These centers aim to address the harmful effects of tobacco use and enhance public health.
- According to a recent circular, each medical college must integrate specialized tobacco cessation services within their healthcare infrastructure. These centers will not only focus on tobacco cessation but also serve as drug de-addiction facilities. Additionally, they are expected to be set up in both rural and urban health centers affiliated with the colleges to extend their impact on community health.
