Coffee Intake Reduces Gout Risk by Modulating Urate, Urea, and SHBG Levels
13 Mar 2024 • A recent study aimed to investigate the causal relationships between specific dietary habits and the risk of gout, while identifying the mediators involved in these associations.
Researchers found compelling evidence supporting the protective effects of coffee intake. Coffee consumption significantly lowered the risk of gout by reducing urate and urea levels while increasing sex hormone-binding globulin (SHBG) in plasma.
These findings further establish the causally protective effect of coffee intake on gout.
