Supreme Court Denies NEET Retest Amidst Leak Controversy
25 Jul 2024 • The Supreme Court has dismissed calls for a NEET retest, citing no evidence of widespread question paper leaks impacting exam integrity.
-
"Data on record is not indicative of a systemic leak of the question paper, which would lead to the destruction of the sanctity of the exam." the court said.
-
Chief Justice underlined the potential adverse impact of a retest on 23 lakh students and future medical workforce availability.
-
Despite localized leaks in Hazaribagh and Patna benefiting 155 students, the court highlighted ongoing CBI investigations into these incidents.
-
Meanwhile, a disputed physics question was resolved by an IIT Delhi expert panel, affecting results for over four lakh candidates, including 44 perfect scorers. The NEET UG results are undergoing revision following the Supreme Court's decision on the disputed Physics question, leading to the exclusion of 44 students from the top ranks.

The NTA is expected to release the final NEET UG 2024 results by July 25. Once the revised results are out, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will announce the counselling dates for NEET UG 2024.
