20 Mar 2024 • Recent findings published in The Lancet provide reassurance for clinicians about the safety of implementation of active mobilisation in acute critical care settings.

• Active mobilisation in ICU settings showed no significant increase in adverse events (RR 1·09) or mortality (RR 0·98) compared to usual care, with less than a 3% chance of an adverse event occurring during intervention sessions.

These findings support the continued integration of early active mobilisation in the intensive care unit into clinical protocols.
