Culprit Lesion PCI Before Complete Diagnostic CAG Expedites Reperfusion in ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction
1 Apr 2024 • A recent study aimed to evaluate the effect of culprit lesion PCI before complete diagnostic CAG on reperfusion time, in-hospital outcomes, and long-term outcomes among patients with STEMI who undergo primary PCI.
This approach, compared to CAG followed by culprit lesion PCI, resulted in shorter reperfusion times and a statistically significant higher proportion of patients who achieved the primary outcome of a needle-to-balloon time of 10 minutes or less (51.1% vs 19.1%).
Rates of adverse events were similar between groups. There were no differences in rates of in-hospital, 30-day, and 1-year all-cause mortality.
