26 Dec 2023 • In a recent analysis that underscored bisoprolol's clinical prowess in COPD, the medication demonstrated marked improvements in lung function (FEV1, FEV1%, FVC) & 6-minute walking distance, while also reducing inflammatory cytokines (IL-6, IL-8, CRP).

The effect on lung function and exercise capacity remained consistent, irrespective of the presence of heart failure. Bisoprolol also exhibited an impressive safety profile.

Based on the available evidence, the results of this meta-analysis showed that bisoprolol significantly improved pulmonary function, motor function, and inflammatory factors in COPD patients, and the improvement was independent of the presence or absence of concomitant cardiac disease, suggesting that bisoprolol is effective and safe for COPD patients.
