Healthy Lifestyle Choices Counterbalance Genetic Risk for PAD in Type 2 Diabetes Patients

9 Jan 2024 • Recent research from the UK Biobank, spanning over 13.5 years, has found that adhering to a favorable lifestyle – characterized by non-smoking, regular exercise, a high-quality diet, moderate alcohol intake, optimal waist-to-hip ratio, and sufficient sleep – leads to a remarkable decrease in the risk of peripheral artery disease (PAD) compared to those with unfavorable lifestyles.

Importantly, a favorable lifestyle was also found to partially mitigate the genetic risk of PAD..

This underscores the power of lifestyle choices in combating PAD among T2D patients, regardless of genetic factors.
