6 Feb 2024 • The adoption of a healthier lifestyle in older adults was associated with improved cognitive function, independent of common dementia-related brain pathologies.
A higher lifestyle score, with factors such as noncurrent smoking, physical activity, limited alcohol consumption, adherence to a MIND diet & cognitive activity was also linked to a lower β-amyloid load in the brain, indicating a potential protective role.
A recent study found that in older adults, a healthy lifestyle may provide a cognitive reserve to maintain cognitive abilities independently of common neuropathologies of dementia.
