Higher Incidence of Adverse CV Events Observed in Epilepsy, Enhanced Cardiovascular Care Crucial

3 Jan 2024 • In a nationwide study, a significantly higher risk of cardiovascular issues was observed in people with epilepsy (PWE).

The findings underscored a stark increase in cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in PWE.

Key findings revealed a marked elevation in the incidence of all-cause death, cardiovascular death, heart failure, ischaemic stroke, ventricular arrhythmias, and cardiac arrest among PWE.

Targeting cardiovascular health could help reduce excess morbidity and mortality in PWE.
