New Research Shows Antihypertensive Drugs Linked to Sharp Drop in Dementia Risk Among Elderly

27 Mar 2024 • A recent study conducted in Lombardy, Italy, investigated the impact of antihypertensive drug treatment on dementia risk among 215,547 elderly patients aged ≥65 years.

Compared with patients with very low exposure, those with low, intermediate, and high exposure exhibited a 2%, 12% and 24% risk reduction, respectively.

This protective effect was consistent even among very old patients (aged ≥85 years) and those considered frail.
