High TyG Index Spells Trouble for Diabetic Foot: 64% Amputation Risk Surge
18 Jul 2024 • In new research, triglycerides-glucose (TyG) index levels exceeding 9.4 was linked to a staggering 64% higher risk of amputation within one year among adults with diabetic foot.
Surprisingly, traditional risk factors like high TC/HDL (>4.69) and TG/HDL-C (> 3.57) ratios did not show significant associations with amputation risk, challenging current diagnostic norms.
Monitoring the TyG index in diabetic foot patients is key to assessing amputation risk.
