Early Weight Loss Post-Diabetes Diagnosis Boosts Remission Chances, Study Shows

24 Jan 2024 • Recent research has found that significant weight loss within the first year of diabetes diagnosis notably increased the chances of remission.

Specifically, patients losing ≥10% of their body weight were 3.28 times more likely to achieve remission compared to those gaining weight. Additionally, weight loss proved to decrease the risk of reverting to hyperglycemia and lowered the all-cause mortality risk.

However, a striking 67.2% of those who achieved remission relapsed, signaling the need for sustained management strategies.
