How Pregnancy History at Age 40 May Be A Predictor of Future Cardiovascular Risks
28 Feb 2024 • Women with >1 complicated pregnancy by 40 years of age can have increased ASCVD risks of 5‐fold and even greater.
A recent investigation revealed a robust association between the number of complicated pregnancies by age 40 and ASCVD mortality risk, with a striking 23-fold increase for women experiencing four complicated pregnancies. Even nulliparous women at 40 years had a 2.5- to 5-fold increased risk.
Complete pregnancy history at 40 years of age may help identify high‐risk women early enough for effective intervention.
