New Prostate Cancer Blood Test with 94% accuracy!!

13 Feb 2023 • According to recent studies, the prostate screening epiSwitch (PSE) blood test is 94% accurate, outperforming the prostate-specific antigen (PSA) blood test that is currently in use. According to the research team, the new test has a lot of promise as an accurate and quick cancer screening test. In cooperation with UEA, Imperial College London, and the Imperial College NHS Trust, Oxford Biodynamics developed the test. In addition to physical exams, MRI scans, and biopsies, PSA blood tests are among the most frequently utilised tests for prostate cancer at the moment. However, because the findings of PSA blood tests can be erratic, they are not frequently used to screen for prostate cancer. Prostate cancer is discovered in only approximately 25% of men who get a prostate biopsy because of an increased PSA result. In a pilot research involving 147 individuals, the UEA team assessed the novel PSE test, which combines the conventional PSA test with an epigenetic EpiSwitch test. PSE greatly improves overall detection accuracy for at-risk men, according to research that compared its results to those of the traditional PSA test.
