1/4th of Critical Care Workers are ready to quit!!

1 Feb 2023 • The harsh fact is that violence occurs at work with healthcare workers all across the world. A recent study revealed this pattern and discovers that 25% of the total healthcare workers surveyed were ready to quit due to such violence. The last thing our healthcare system needs right now is more deterrents, as hospital staff are experiencing fatigue in historic numbers. A study by the Indian Medical Association indicated that 75% of doctors had dealt with workplace violence even before the pandemic.

One of the coordinators of the Violence Study of Healthcare Workers and Systems (ViSHWaS), which surveyed a global sample of doctors, nurses, and hospital employees, is Dr. Kashyap. They made contact with researchers from the Middle East, Africa, South America, and North America. Overall, 73% of participants reported experiencing physical or verbal violence while in the hospital; 48% reported feeling less motivated to work as a result of the violence; 39% thought the level of violence they experienced was the same as it was prior to the COVID-19 pandemic; and 36% thought it had increased.
