β-Blockers Deemed Safe for COPD Patients Post Acute Myocardial Infarction
22 May 2024 • In a recent JAMA study, researchers have debunked safety concerns surrounding β-blocker use in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients following an acute MI.
Analyzing data from 18 US hospitals, the study, which included 562 COPD patients post-AMI, found no increased risk of mortality or adverse outcomes associated with β-blocker prescription at discharge.
This study lends support for the continued use of β-blockers in COPD patients post-AMI.
