Global Explosion in BPH Cases: China, India, and US Hit Hardest
6 Sept 2024 • Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) has surged dramatically worldwide, with cases among men aged 60 and over increasing by up to 121.22% over the past 30 years.
By 2019, there were 79 million prevalent cases among men aged 60 and over worldwide. A global study, utilizing data from 204 countries and various regions, shows a steady increase in BPH prevalence, incidence, and disability-adjusted life-years (DALYs) with annual percentage changes of 0.02%, 0.02%, and 0.01%, respectively.
The highest BPH burden is found in China, India, and the United States.
The findings underscore the urgent need for effective BPH prevention and management strategies as the condition continues to pose significant health and economic challenges worldwide.
