Thiazolidinediones Linked to Increased Fracture Risk in Female Type 2 Diabetes Patients
21 Feb 2024 • Among anti-diabetic drugs, thiazolidinediones increased the overall hazard of fracture by 42% in adults with type 2 diabetes and almost tripled the risk after 4 years (HR 2.74).
In further analyses, thiazolidinediones showed a twofold increase in fracture risk in women (HR 2.19) but no significant effect in males.
Metformin, SGLT2 inhibitors, and DPP-4 inhibitors exhibited no significant fracture risk.
