- A study involving 573,088 individuals aged 50 and over, found that those with hearing loss had a higher risk of developing dementia compared to those without (OR: 1.07).
- Individuals with hearing loss who did not use hearing aids faced a higher risk of dementia than their counterparts who used hearing aids (OR 1.20 vs 1.06), suggesting that hearing aids might prevent or delay the onset & progression of dementia.
