This pathogen, transmitted by the bite of mosquitoes, ticks, and sandflies, has spread across districts like Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Mahisagar, Kheda, Mehsana, and Rajkot, with 12 reported cases so far.

Known for its rapid transmission and high mortality rates, the virus targets children aged 9 months to 14 years, predominantly in rural areas. Symptoms start with fever, vomiting, diarrhea, and headache, often leading to fatal encephalitis within 24 to 48 hours.

Despite ongoing efforts, there remains no vaccine or specific treatment, leaving symptomatic care as the sole option.
