4 Dec 2023 • In T2DM patients with confirmed NAFLD, researchers evaluated the diagnostic effectiveness of the enhanced liver fibrosis (ELF) test. Compared to traditional methods such as the FIB-4 index and NAFLD fibrosis score (NFS), the ELF test demonstrated superior overall accuracy in predicting advanced fibrosis.

The ELF test also provided an acceptable false-negative rate (cutoff value 9.8, 6.7%) in this population.

The high diagnostic performance of the ELF test for predicting advanced fibrosis in individuals with or without T2DM could address an unmet medical need for accurate assessment of liver fibrosis in patients with diabetes and NAFLD.
