Enhanced Prediction for Post-Extubation Complications in Elderly Patients
15 Dec 2023 • Examining 109 patients, adverse events post-extubation were associated with higher age, female proportion, and preoperative respiratory diseases. Diaphragmatic ultrasound and muscle relaxation values were significantly lower in the adverse event group. Logistic regression identified these parameters as predictors of complications, with their combined use achieving a superior predictive accuracy (AUC of 0.949) compared to individual indicators. The study concludes that this combined approach is more precise in anticipating complications post-extubation in elderly patients within the AICU.
