Remarkable Results Achieved with Ross Procedure Over a Twenty-Year Span
10 Nov 2023 • The Ross procedure as treatment for adults with aortic valve disease (AVD) has been the subject of renewed interest. A recent study underscores the Ross procedure's prowess in treating AVD among adults.
Results reveal exceptional survival rates matching the general population even into the third postoperative decade. The procedure boasts an impressive 25-year freedom from reintervention—71.1% for any, 80.3% for autograft, and 86.3% for homograft.
Long-term freedom from reintervention demonstrated that the Ross procedure may be a durable substitute into late adulthood, showing a delayed but progressive functional decline.
