Harvard Researchers Claim They've Found Chemical Cocktail That Reverses Ageing

21 Jul 2023 • Harvard researchers claim to have discovered a chemical cocktail that they say can reverse aging — a finding that may result in a 'Fountain of Youth' pill. Harvard researcher David Sinclair shared the findings, which were published in the July issue of the medical journal Aging, in a series of Twitter posts this week.

We’ve previously shown age reversal is possible using gene therapy to turn on embryonic genes, now we show it’s possible with chemical cocktails, a step towards affordable whole-body rejuvenation.” he wrote.

The team discovered six chemical cocktails which reversed the ageing process in both human and mice skin cells "by several years". Prescription-only medications such as Valproic acid, Tranylcypromine and Pramipexole, for example, appear in several of the cocktails.

'Studies on the optic nerve, brain tissue, kidney, and muscle have shown promising results, with improved vision and extended lifespan in mice and, recently, in April of this year, improved vision in monkeys,' the researcher further tweeted.

'Preparations for human clinical trials of our first age reversal gene therapy are ongoing,'' Mr. Sinclair said, noting that the first human clinical trials are currently scheduled to "begin late next year," assuming "all goes well."

The potential of these chemical cocktails to reverse aging has captured the imagination of many, offering hope for a future where aging could be slowed down or even reversed. However, until further studies confirm their effectiveness and safety, we must temper our expectations and await further developments in this remarkable area of research.
