Gabapentinoids May Increase Risk of Severe COPD Flare-Ups

- Gabapentinoid use correlated with an increased risk of severe COPD exacerbations, irrespective of the indication, showing hazard ratios of 1.58 for epilepsy, 1.35 for neuropathic pain, and 1.49 for other chronic pain.
- Overall, gabapentinoid users faced a 1.39 times higher risk compared to nonusers, underscoring the need for cautious prescribing of gabapentin and pregabalin in COPD patients.
