Indian Medical Association Demands Central Law on Violence Against Doctors, Hospitals
19 Jul 2024 • The Indian Medical Association (IMA) is gearing up for a nationwide "Justice for Doctors" campaign, scheduled to launch from the end of July to early August.
- This initiative aims to advocate for a central law addressing violence against doctors and hospitals, amidst rising incidents of such violence.
- In response to these concerns, IMA President R.V. Asokan convened an emergency meeting on July 16, urging all state branches to actively participate in the campaign.
- Earlier in July, the IMA had also appealed to the government, stressing the importance of invoking protective provisions under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita in cases involving alleged criminal medical negligence.
