PRP and Hyaluronic Acid Lead the Way in Long-Term Knee OA Management

6 Mar 2025 • A meta-analysis in patients with knee osteoarthritis (OA), evaluated the mid- to long-term effectiveness of intra-articular injections.

Key Findings:

  • The results revealed that the combination of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and hyaluronic acid (HA) outperformed other treatments in providing both pain relief and functional improvement over one year.
  • The combination therapy ranked highest, followed by PRP alone, HA plus corticosteroids (CS), HA alone, placebo, and CS.

This study underscores the sustained benefits of PRP, especially when combined with HA, as a superior long-term treatment option for knee OA.
