Niacin May Help Lower Osteoarthritis Risk, Study Finds

24 Feb 2025 • A new study reveals a link between niacin intake and reduced risk of osteoarthritis (OA).

Key Findings:

  • Analyzing over 30,000 participants, researchers found that higher niacin intake was inversely associated with OA prevalence.
  • Specifically, individuals in the highest niacin quartile had a 33% lower risk of OA compared to those in the lowest quartile.
  • The study also noted a nonlinear relationship, with significant benefits seen after a certain threshold of niacin intake.

These findings suggest that increasing niacin-rich foods may serve as an effective dietary intervention to reduce OA risk.
