High BMI Variability Directly Linked to Increased Risk of Heart Failure

3 May 2024 • Body mass index fluctuation is an independent predictor of heart failure incidence, as per recent findings published in the Journal of the American Heart Association.

Analyzing data from over 99,000 participants without prevalent HF or cancer, researchers found that higher variability in BMI, independently correlated with a heightened risk of HF over a median follow-up period of 12.5 years.

This finding highlights the significance of monitoring BMI fluctuations longitudinally and suggests potential implications for proactive interventions aimed at mitigating HF risk.
